Distinctive and heavily peated, Islay’s Laphroaig has been warming the cockles of many a whisky drinker since 1815, and this year sees the distillery launch two travel shopper exclusives to market.
In a nod to the whisky maker’s notable history and as peaty single malts continue to have their moment in the sun, owner Beam Suntory is making available Four Oak and The 1815 Legacy Edition at airport retail outlets across the globe.
Those chasing the hard stuff can already pick up the 1L Four Oak in participating stores, while the 70cl Legacy drop will be available on retailers’ shelves this April. At 40% and 48% ABV respectively, they’re certainly packing a punch.
Four Oak boasts a bright golden colour and promises aromas of peat smoke with stewed fruit and warm, toasted vanilla. The Legacy drop glows in what is described as a deep sunset orange colour, offering aromas of burnt apricot and raisin.
Regardless of their fruity preference, the choice of drinking options has certainly expanded for jet-setting shoppers in the mood for smokiness, or those seeking gifts for their Islay-loving nearest and dearest.
