Ode To Chanel: Celebrating the Birthday of a Fashion Icon

134 years ago to the day, Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel was born to a peasant and a street vendor in France. She helped reform women’s fashion, by ditching restrictive (and often painful) corsets, shortening hem lines and introducing the world to the LBD in the 1920s – complete with boyish bob hairstyle, of course.

Whether it’s the smell of Chanel No. 5, a boxy tweed jacket, or a chain handle handbag, many would recognise the distinct quality and design of Coco Chanel. The nickname ‘Coco’, by the way, was given to her when she used to sing for soldiers during the war.

So to celebrate the birthday of an undisputed icon, we’ve selected our favourite Chanel products that you can pick up at the airport.

The classic original Chanel No. 5 Eau de Parfume is available from World Duty Free stores.
Chanel Chance Three Moods is a trio of travel-friendly, spill-free, scented gels: Tendre (warm and mild); Fraîche (light and refreshing); and Vive (bright and lively).
The latest floral fragrance from Chanel: parfume Gabrielle has accents of citrus and sandalwood.

Alternatively, why not use the anniversary as an excuse to visit the Chanel Beauty Lounge at Singapore’s Changi Airport (part of the Shilla Beauty Loft) for the ultimate pre-flight beauty indulgence? Escape the stress of flying and relax in this intimate beauty lounge, where you can choose from an assortment of Chanel skincare, make-up and fragrances, all designed to suit your travelling beauty needs.
