Julie Ly of Raining Cake picks her best duty free beauty buys

I’m like a child in a candy shop when it comes to duty free shopping – I can’t be the only one who gets to the airport super early just so I can get my bags checked in and then leg it through departures right? I love spending that extra bit of time browsing the shops and re-purchasing some favourites as well as checking out all the new exclusives. It’s one of my favourite parts of travelling.

I have had my fair share of trips this year and through each trip, I picked up some amazing new products in duty free. Let me show you exactly what I got….

First things first, I never fail to visit the Jo Malone counter. Why? Because they offer free hand and arm massages to all their customers, making it the perfect pre-flight treat. This is also a great way to experience their products, have a feel of the texture and pick a scent that suits you. This is how I was first introduced to the brand and they get me every single time. On my last visit, I picked up the English Pear and Freesia Cologne. It’s such a fresh, lovely, summery scent and I can’t get enough of it right now.

The make-up counters are what I hit next. Bobbi Brown and MAC are two of the main brands I check out for ‘new in’ products, as well as repurchasing some all-time favourites. I’m a sucker for lipsticks and hoard them like nobody’s business, so naturally I gravitate towards these at each counter.

I recently picked up a set of the new Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lips because I fell instantly in love when I applied them. They’re perfect for travelling as they’re easy to use, give a really nice pop of colour, and keep the lips moisturised. As a lover of all things matte for lips, I also opted for few of the MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colours. Nudes and browns are my absolute favourite shades and the formula of these lipsticks are amazing. They apply so well and last all day without budging.

When it comes to skincare, I love treating my skin to a touch of luxury. Estée Lauder and Clinique always work well on my skin, so I chose a couple of their newest releases. The Estée Lauder Advanced Repair range is well-known for its anti-ageing properties. I was in need of a new serum, so I opted for the Recovery Mask-In Oil which is by far one of the best face oils I’ve tried. It’s so luxurious, applies like a dream, and sinks in so quickly leaving my skin feeling super smooth and soft.

From Clinique, I decided to try the Fresh Pressed range because I have heard so many good things about it. I really needed to treat my skin as it’s been looking quite dull lately and this sounded amazing. Well, luckily, I can confirm it is as good as the hype. If you’re looking to give your skin a boost, then this 7-day system is ideal. You will not be disappointed.
