How to look gorgeous by using a 100-year-old powder, and other Shiseido secrets

We always love a Shiseido product drop and the latest unveiling reveals a triple treat fresh for spring. First up is the Synchro Skin Glow Luminizing Fluid Foundation, the newest addition to the Shiseido Synchro Skin Series. The low-down on this beauty? It’s an intelligent foundation which alters as skin conditions change during the day and adapts to the unique nature of each individual complexion.

It does this through the use of Responsive Sensory Technology. We all know that after you have applied your foundation in the morning, it’s not going to keep looking so great as the hours wear on. The genius of this product is that it keeps skin bathed in a flattering glow throughout the day. Time Match Powder and Glow Enhancing Powder SG optimise light so that the complexion retains a healthy glow as post-lunch fatigue sets in.

To work on ensuring your complexion looks its all-round best, Transparent Correcting Polymer and Transparent Colour Pigment EX do the groundwork of covering imperfections and enhancing the skin tone. Meanwhile Photo Smoothing Pearl acts like an Instagram filter, reflecting light and smoothing over deep pores and fine lines.

Not only that, but Super Bio-Moisture Network technology, argan oil and yuzu seed extract maintain hydration for a reported eight hours. Wild Thyme Extract provides anti-oxidant protection and, talking of protection, the foundation offers that all-important, skin-saving SPF20. How do they fit it all in one bottle you may wonder?

Eight shades of The Synchro Skin Glow Luminizing Fluid Foundation will be available to travel shoppers. Look out for it hitting shelves in Asia Pacific and the Americas in March and Europe, the Middle East and Africa in April.

The brush of Full Lash Multi-Dimension Mascara admittedly looks like it has met a tragic end in the bottom of a make-up bag (see photo) but don’t be alarmed. That rather rakish angle is in fact the secret to its success. Designed by Shiseido, the head is flexible and rotates 360° and can bend up to 30° to reach, lift and coat even the tiniest lashes. Other good-to-know features of this mascara are that it is sweat-resistant for eight hours and can be removed simply with warm water.

Keep an eye (!) out for it when you travel as slightly different versions are available in different regions: Asia Pacific travel shopping locations has the black and waterproof formulation; EMEA has non-waterproof in black and brown; Americas has non-waterproof in black and brown.

Head-turning make-up with Shiseido’s most lightweight formula ever via Full Lash Multi-Dimension Mascara

Rainbow Face Powder has a history with Shiseido going back 100 years. Now, for spring/summer 2017, Shiseido relaunches this heritage classic as 7 Lights Powder Illuminator. Boasting seven new light-reflecting pigments in seven brand new shades, the new formula contains two key powders: Dryness Reset Powder which makes rough, dry skin smooth and even and Stickiness Reset Powder which absorbs excess oil. To make using it even more pleasurable, the Illuminator has also been infused with a floral green scent.

This ability to adjust to different skin conditions combined with the effect of making skin look naturally beautiful as opposed to ‘flawless’ or, rather, caked-over is how a 100-year-old powder can still make you look beautiful.

Already available in Asia Pacific and EMEA travel shopping locations, 7 Lights Powder Illuminator will be coming to the Americas this month.

Standing the test of time: 7 Lights Powder Illuminator is a reworking of the original Rainbow Face Powder
